|Incident Details:||Police Officer William Rosenstreter, 29, was a 1-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 38th Precinct.
On November 6, 1914, Officer Rosenstreter and his partner Officer Edward Baynes attempted to arrest Charles Williams for causing a disturbance while intoxicated. While Officer Rosenstreter placed Williams under arrest, the offender drew a gun and shot the officer in the neck. Officer Rosenstreter was transported to Passavant Hospital where he died of his injuries.
Officer Rosenstreter was survived by his father, John, and four siblings: Emil, Augusta, Minnie, and Julia.
