|Incident Details:||Police Officer William Rumbler, 32, assigned to the East Chicago Avenue.
On October 12, 1930, Officer Rumbler was at James Purcelli’s Soft Drink Parlor on the 3100 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The officer was off and talking to the owner when three armed robbers entered. Walter Evenow, Frank Mallen and John Senew were looking for money to repay a lender, after paying the bail bond for Senew. When they entered they announced, “Hands up,” and Officer Rumbler drew his weapon.
John Senew, 23, and Walter Evenow, 28, were sentenced to serve 60 years in prison.
