Incident Details: Sergeant John Cronin, 65, was a 40-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Fillmore Station. On June 3, 1931, Sergeant Cronin was investigating a suspicious vehicle parked a block away from his district. The sergeant was accidentally struck by a passing vehicle as he stood in the street. Sergeant Cronin was rushed to Garfield Park Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Sergeant Croninā€™s funeral mass was held at Resurrection Church and he was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. He is survived by his children, Catherine, John, and Thomas.
