|Incident Details:||Sergeant Thomas Kehoe, 52, was assigned to the Summerdale Station.
On June 23, 1927, Sergeant Kehoe and his partner, Officer James Farley, attempted to place a suspect under arrest who was believed to have committed a carjacking at gunpoint. The officers spotted the stolen vehicle and the suspect in the 4900 block of North Rockwell Street. When the officers ordered the robber to halt, he began shooting at them. During the gun battle, the suspect was killed. Tragically, Officer Farley and Sergeant Kehoe were fatally injured and died at the scene.
Sergeant Kehoe was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. He was survived by his wife. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War.
