|Incident Details:||Detective-Sergeant Martin Corcoran was assigned to the 42nd Precinct.
On June 6, 1917, Detective-Sergeant Corcoran was fatally injured while arresting Albert Johnson and William Pisano. The officer spotted the two burglars after they had committed a home invasion. When Johnson saw Detective-Sergeant Corcoran, he opened fire and fatally wounded him. Detective-Sergeant Corcoran was able to return fire before dying; injuring Johnson.
Albert Johnson was found guilty and sentenced to death. William Pisano was found guilty of burglary.
Detective-Sergeant Corcoran was laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery.
