|Incident Details:||Police Officer Anthony Creed, 35, was a 10-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Mounted Unit.
On August 30, 1983, the officer was thrown from his horse during a training exercise. According to eyewitnesses, the horse stumbled as it was walking down an incline at Mounted Unit Headquarters. Officer Creed, 35, sustained fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Jackson Park Hospital.
In 1979, Creed had been shot in the head during an interview with a suspect. The Marine and CPD veteran was also the recipient of the Blue Star and Carter Harrison Awards.
His mass was held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Officer Creed is survived by his wife, Geri; daughter, Toni; son, Gerald; and his parents, Gerald and Rosalle.
