Incident Details: Police Officer Gilbert Wilson, 27, was a 2-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Mounted Unit. On October 2, 1930, Officer Wilson was riding his police horse on the lower level of LaSalle Street and Wacker Drive. The officer was thrown off the horse after being frightened from the noise of a nearby garbage wagon. Officer Wilson was then hit by a truck hauling three trailers. He died at the scene.
