|Incident Details:||On August 27, 1928, Police Officer Luke Howe, 55, was transporting a prisoner along with four other officers when a vehicle crashed into them at Dorchester Avenue and 50th Street. The driver who caused the collision, Michael Kinney, 22, was traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour when he crashed into the squad car. The four officers and prisoner survived the incident. Officer Howe succumbed to his injuries
Officer Howe’s funeral mass was held at St. Laurence Church and he was laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Nellie; and children, Eleanor, James, Luke, Walter, Rita, and John.
