|Incident Details:||Sergeant John Cronin, 65, was a 40-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Fillmore Station.
On June 3, 1931, Sergeant Cronin was investigating a suspicious vehicle parked a block away from his district. The sergeant was accidentally struck by a passing vehicle as he stood in the street. Sergeant Cronin was rushed to Garfield Park Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Sergeant Cronin’s funeral mass was held at Resurrection Church and he was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. He is survived by his children, Catherine, John, and Thomas.
