|Incident Details:||Sergeant Terrence Lyons, 30, was assigned to the West Park District Police.
On May 11, 1922, Sergeant Lyons was fatally wounded when he confronted a vehicle containing three men. Unbeknowst to the officer, the men had just murdered Police Officer Thomas J. Clark. As the sergeant approached the vehicle, gunfire erupted. Sergeant Lyons died en route to Cook County Hospital.
John Miller and Charles Duschowski were found guilty.
Sergeant Lyons’ funeral mass was held at St. Mel’s Church and he was laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
