Police Canine KING, aged 9 years, was a veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Bureau of Operational Services - Patrol Division, Special Operations Group: Unit 058 - Canine Unit.

In 1978, K-9 KING and his handler, Patrolman John Thibault, conducted a search. During the search K-9 KING ingested a food which was laced with poison for rodents.
